My grandmother has a bedroom in her house that has a closet with old metal doors on it. There are slats on the doors and a light inside the closet. When I leave the light on and shut the door a really cool effect is created. Some of the light comes through the slats to the floor in the room. This closet was built before you had to have globes over the 60 or 75 watt bulbs.
Since there little diffusion due to the absence of a globe, the beams are really crisp through the slats. I am not sure how it would look if there was a globe on the light. My guess is that the beams would be softer.
